Background story: Confronted with various life's surprises—betrayals, significant life changes, toxic relationships and his own troubled character—Danté had no choice but to confide his issues to his closest friends, family, and an entrusted therapist. He concluded that his murky past and unresolved personal issues had rendered him indifferent to anything beyond the platonic level. Thus, he reluctantly distanced himself from anything remotely romantic in order to prevent further heartache and guilt, while actively putting efforts to mend the wounds and traumas.

* BACKGROUND ;

Born into a middle-to-lower-class family propped by a Korean-American father, a Busan-native mother, and an older brother named Darren, Danté spent most of his childhood in the suburbs of Seoul, South Korea. Despite living in the capital, he was never fed with a silver spoon. His parents were ordinary office workers with typical 9-to-5 schedules, residing in a humble, inherited two-story house. At his father’s request, his mother resigned from her job once they discovered she was pregnant. Little did they know, the storm preyed on the family of four. During the turmoil in the global economy in the early to mid-2000s, his parents faced further hardships. His father was laid off, and not long afterward, the company declared bankruptcy.The circumstances forced his father to work up to three jobs across various sectors, five days a week. During the toughest days, splitting a single dish for four had to be done. This volatile upbringing molded the siblings' personalities. While Darren was a relatively more reserved and prudent, the youngest Danté developed a more impatient, rebellious, and obstinate personality. Although the common denominator did exist; both have the propensity to be combative, one more than the other, when faced with intrusions.School brawls and fighting bullies were part of their routine. Retaliation served as an effective method to preserve dignity, assert dominance, and display fearlessness. Keeping the bruises and secrets from their parents became a mission they undertook, learning early on the sacred importance of brotherhood.As a result, disciplinary actions from their parents often left Danté on the verge of tears and Darren quietly sobbing into his pillow at night. At the age of 11, months after his father had secured a more stable job, he made the risky decision to transfer Danté to a school in Los Angeles and place him in the care of relatives.Although his decision was met with protests, his father persisted, hoping that rebellious Danté would finally, in his words, “come to his senses” and seize greater opportunities in a first-world country to better his life and that of his family. Equipped with innate stubbornness and fluency in English—thanks to his father’s daily conversational practice at home—Danté begrudgingly moved to Los Angeles on his own. The two years he spent in an LA public school turned out to be his most transformative, kaleidoscopic phase.From the racist bullying carried out by his peers to the strenuous days of assimilating into a completely different culture and society, young Danté had no choice but to mature faster than others. In the process, holding onto vices—knowledge, hobbies, literature, video games—became a necessity.Immersing himself in studying and books was a way of coping, during which he became enamored with literature. Consuming heavy books such as Camus’ “The Stranger”, Stevenson’s “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” and Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” polished his worldview and furnished his foundations. Knowledge became armor; excellence, a shield. His grades soared, his reputation solidified. Being a sharp kid, he leveraged this success to build networks, satiating his hunger for exploration and personal freedom. However, this free-spiritedness led him to encounter juvenile delinquencies in the rotten sides of LA including cigarettes, drinks, and drugs.Fortunately, the unwavering principles instilled in him by his family paid off: Danté steered clear of distractions and earned a reputation as the street- and book-smart Asian kid who hangs out with everyone yet fears no one.Amidst the rough patches, he found solace in his hobbies. Danté had always been a naturally talented and skillful child, drawn to a variety of interests. Singing and dancing, in particular, were his most cherished pastimes, and praises frequently wove through his days. As he grew older, his vision and goals gradually shifted, and the idea of becoming a well-known artist began to take center stage. Encouraged by his peers, parents, and teachers, he summoned the courage to join an audition held in his hometown. To his astonishment, he passed—quickly realizing just how close he was to becoming a seasoned musician, with fame and success waiting at his fingertips.The following years of pouring blood, sweat, and tears under a struggling entertainment agency further hardened his mentality. Once again, brotherhood saved his sanity. Alongside six of his fated brothers, they learned to stitch each other's wounds, rectify mistakes, and spray color across hazy, gray days. Despite the tumultuous and harrowing days, quitting was never an option. Bearing a new stage name and a scrupulously honed persona, the seeds planted to achieve stardom finally bloomed. In 2013, a new boyband emerged, propelling him and his brothers into an entirely new sphere. Life, however, refused to follow a straight path; the journey was far from linear, it twisted and turned, full of unexpected trials, triumphs, and surprises that continue to shape him to this day.
